( I met up with some great bloggers for lunch. I can’t believe I got to meet Jamie and Nick. I LOVE them!)
I feel like yesterday flew by! All weekend I was debating whether to go or not. But since my husband is a pilot and I can fly for free I figured I had nothing to lose.
I took the red eye from Utah to New York and got about 2 hours of sleep. So not only was I super tired but I am sure I looked like I got ready for the day in an airport bathroom. Which I did.
I have been reading some mixed reviews about the show and I’m not really sure what to think. I guess I can understand where everyone is coming from but I had a great time. Maybe it’s because I’ve only been blogging for about a year but I felt lucky just to be there. Surrounded by so many amazing people, in an incredible city, sitting just a few feet away from one my design heros. I don’t know how many people in their life get a chance like that. I guess they could have made the show more blogger-oriented but I wasn’t really expecting that going in. I didn’t expect the royal treatment or to be showered with praise. It’s his show. Not a blogger show. He gets to do whatever the heck he wants. That’s how I feel. The end.
But can we just talk about how amazing the set was! Wow. I got to sit on one of the front rows and gawk over his amazing chevron rug and that great little table. So happy.
The very best part of the whole day was getting to meet some of my favorite designers in person.
I would have flown all the way to New York for the day just to get the chance to meet these ladies so it was all worth it. Traci and Emily have the most adorable accents. I seriously think I need to get a dialect coach to give me some kind of new voice. I just love them. I was so excited to meet Bryn. She is just as nice as I hoped she’d be.
Getting to talk to and meet Jenny was so neat. If only these great ladies didn’t live so far away. Maybe it’s better though or I’d probably be stalking them and begging them to hang out everyday.
I wish I could have stayed for the after party but I had to rush back to catch my flight home. I literally sprinted to my gate at the airport and I barely made it home.
This was an experience that I will never forget. As a girl who used to spend her days waitressing and trying to figure out what I wanted to do with my life I felt like this day was a dream come true. I am so grateful.
you look fab even toilet ready, like really!!! glad you had a nice time, and so nice to have met them all!!!
I'm glad you had a good time. It was nice to read about your experience and the positive outlook you have about it.
What a wonderful genuine post. It's so nice to hear that. I'm glad you enjoyed it so thoroughly! I wish I could have been there, and met you as well…maybe next massive blogger convention.
Sounds like a lovely time – I would have been happy to just to be on the set and near Nate and all the other bloggers! I never would have thought the royal treatment would have been rolled out, so I agree with you.
First of all–You are so darn cute!! I need your hair cut. The one I have now is too plain. It looks like an amazing trip, but I do think that it would have been to the Nate Show's benefit to at least mention who was in the audience.
What a cool opportunity…and I think you look so cute!!!
Well said. I agree, a chance in a lifetime, and the best part had to be meeting everyone. So happy for you!!
sounds amazing!
looks like SUCH a fun day!
I still think you have one of the best blogs out there.
I knew we could count on you for a fresh perspective! I understand the disappointment with many other bloggers {trust me…many of us would have just loved to be there!} but you looked on the bright side.
: )
Great recap! Couldn't agree more. So glad to have met you in person 🙂
Sounds fun to me! You don't look at all like you got ready in the airport bathroom!! Wish I could fly wherever, whenever! Miss you!
I am so glad you were able to make it!! I loved meeting you, I just wish we could have chatted longer!! Yesterday was such a crazy blur…did you get a picture of us together? If so, can you email it to me???

I have been dying to hear how it went! Sounds like you have the right attitude about the show and how awesome it must have been to get to meet the other bloggers in person?! You look great!!
You look like you had fun anyways! And now I NEED a yellow cardigan, thanks;)
What a refreshing perspective. Love you even more now after this. And um, I wish I could have gone!
Not so sure I love the show, but I love Nate, and I love his set. I do hope they get the hang of the show soon, because I think it could have the potential to be good.
It was so nice meeting you yesterday (or if I didn't meet you, it might have been Chasity who pointed you out!). What an incredible experience! I saw you and Chasity in the front row – jealous!!
Glad you made it out to NY, looking forward to following you!
Kirsten, I love your take on this. You are so humble, what an honor for you that you got invited—it's still super special, and you got to meet so many heros! —love your positive, sunny outlook : )
It sounds like you had a wonderful time and how fun to get to meet other bloggers…
So bummed I didn't get the chance to meet you yesterday! I definitely recognized you at the taping in your bright yellow sweater. I definitely had the same mindset as you – I have not been blogging for very long and I was really just so excited to be surrounded by so many talented designers/bloggers – it was so worth the trip!
I feel the same way as you Kirsten. I honestly didn't even think about being disappointed until I read some of the others' posts. It would have been nice for the show to be more blogger oriented, but I didn't expect that going in. I'm grateful for the opportunity to have met so many of my favorite design bloggers that I didn't have time to be disappointed 🙂 You were such a sweetheart and I really enjoyed meeting you!
Although I wasn't there, I appreciate your take on things, I had read a few complaints, but I agree it is his show and he can really choose to do what he wants 🙂 Still sounds fun!
this looks like it'd be so much fun.
I can't even imagine how amazing it must feel to be around all these women that you follow and are inspired by everyday. I know I would've loved to be a part of that day.
I do remember watching the Martha Stewart show where she highlighted bloggers she really made the show about them, bloggers were even blogging during the taping of the show. I guess that is what I was expecting to hear happened with you guys also. Just my take on the whole thing. Glad you had fun!
SO FREAKING AWESOME! I am so jealous … I don't know if it is because you're living my dream of finishing ID School, or if it is that you went to NY, I don't know … but I think the world of you and I am so glad you had such an amazing experience. WHOOT!

Kirsten, Love this post! And, I feel the same way as you–just completely blessed to have been there. You were so sweet and completely adorable. And, I will be happy to give you southern accent lessons anytime you would like them 🙂
