We have had the same table and chairs since we got married and before we owned them my parents owned them for a number of years. While they have been very good to us we are VERY ready for something new. Not only that but the chairs are about 3 sits away from breaking on us.
Last week I found a listing on Craigslist for 8 West Elm chairs for $250!!
I bought them right away. Yes, they are orange but I am in the process of painting them white.
I love white and dark wood together. Always. So I’m thinking of doing a dark wood table. Here are a few of my inspiration pictures.

My two favorite tables of the moment are these.
Napa Dining Table from World Market
Which do you like better?
I love an old school wooden table. Nothing better.
Both are great choices, but there's something about the chunkiness of the World Market one that I'm loving.
Great find! Can't wait to see them painted white.
I totally agree with the previous poster, the world market table looks sturdier and a little more rustic which would look great with the more detailed west elm chairs you just got!
Wow! What a great find! I like the parsons table because I think the scale of the smaller table would be better fit with the chairs and the simple lines of the table will allow those great chairs to really shine!
You got a steal on those chairs! I can't wait to see them when you're finished painting! I don't think you can go wrong with either table… but if I had to choose I'd pick the West Elm one. It's all going to look so great!
I love the World Market table – it looks warmer and more inviting in my opinion. And with those chairs that you found – can't wait to see your update on this.
I love those chairs! I even love that they're orange. Have you seen the new "Spencer" dining table at West Elm? I kind of love it, that's probably what I would get if I had the space for it.
I like the table from WM with the reddish stain. That will tie-in to your new roman shades. But it really depends on the height of the seat of the chairs. The table height should be at a good height for the chairs when sitting; also how many chairs would be you able to place around the table easily. But I'm sure you have that figured out!
Definitely like the chunkiness of the world market table better with the more modern chairs. Gonna look great!!
Those chairs are fabulous! I think I like the World Market table better. I like the extra detail on the corners- makes it a little warmer. But you can make anything look good!
Great find on Craigslist! Those chairs rock:)
Nothing like a great find! I have always loved those West Elm chairs and you got a deal…now for the table, have you seen the World Market one in person? It is fab and has a nice rustic feel which would be nice with the sleek, white chairs. Have fun, whatever you choose will look great!

Love those chairs! What an awesome find! My vote is for the World Market table. I love the look of modern chairs with a rustic table. Can't wait to see the finished product!
Totally working on a white/wood combo in my kicthen too. What a steal finding those west elm chairs!! Can't wait to see it all come together!!

Yay! pass on the chairs to me!
Love the white/dark wood combo! I've had that in my breakfast room for a number of years (white table, dark chairs), and now I'm going to reverse it …
I have the Napa table from WM and it is wonderful! VERY heavy and sturdy, with just enough of a distressed look that my sleek chairs contrast nicely with it. Good luck!
Love the Napa table…and what steal on those west elm chairs!!!
Definitely the Napa table – it's chunky and sturdy and I love the colour 🙂
ohhh these are nice!! i can't wait to see what you do!!!

Hey K! Thanks for including me in your inspiration pics! That makes me smile! You caught quite the deal on those chairs…love it! I also love your plans to pair them with a dark table. Can't wait to see the updates! : )
im kinda digging the "digs digs" image for your space… i'm no interior designer, but it's what speaking to me. 😉
our kitchen table chairs are very "ethan allen circa 1986". but they're just too sturdy and decent to toss yet… someday!
Great find on those chairs! We used the Napa dining table and benches for our most recent flip and they were a big hit – tons of potential buyers asked about them, and the person who bought the house wound up buying the table and benches as well. The table really looks great in person, and it would be such a pretty contrast to your chairs!
Go with the Parsons table!! That's my favorite!!
I have a dark wood round table with white chairs in my dining room as well. It has been one of my favorite things in my house for a long time! I would go with the West Elm table. It goes better with your house and chairs. Then bring more traditional things in with accents around the kitchen. Will you do a different rug as well? If so, maybe that could be more traditional…!?!
Oh I love this idea! Are you guys going to make the table? I can't wait to see how it turns out. Great Craigslist find too!
I love that color combo- those chairs are going to be amazing in white!!! I love both tables, but I think my favorite is the World Market one because of the shade of the wood. Can't wait to see how the room looks when you're done!

What a great score on Craigslist! Lucky girl! I really love both but like the chunk of the world market table a little more.
Such a great idea! I love home DIY projects, and I can´t wait to see your results!
I´m so happy that I´ve stumbled upon your blog! I´m following you 🙂 Hope that you´ll find some time to check out my lifestyle blog!

Great find, how come I can't ever find good things like this on craigslist?
Those chairs are amazing! I can't wait to see them white, and I adore the second table becuase it looks more rustic and that will be a better contrast with the modern chairs!

Thanks for posting this! We're in desperate need of new dining chairs and I
m trying to talk my husband into white chairs, but he thinks white with dark is weird. What does he know?! 😉 I'll have to show him this post!
wow! i'm jealous of your find on the chairs!
we just got a dark table almost exactly like the world market one, and we paired them with the white scoop back west elm chairs. it's a great combo with the dark and light!
we almost got the parsons table, but after we found a few at downeast, the finish seemed a little cheap to me. we ended up going with a solid wood table ( i think it was a pottery barn one from downeast), and i am glad i did!
I am so jealous of those chairs! I would definitely pick the world market one, rustic chunky tables look great with sleek chairs.
OH, they're PERFECT orange–so sorry to hear they'll be painted white. But yes to a dark, chunky wood table. And what a great find on craigslist!

Nice score on the chairs!! I like the west elm table best out of those two. Room and Board (a lil more pricy) has some really nice options too. BTW I like that rug a lot!
I love the look of the West Elm Parsons table (have the white parsons desk) but since it's made of engineered wood and the World Market option is real wood, I think the World Market one is a better choice for a dining table.
And those chairs are awesome! I can't believe you found them on UT Craigslist; I never find anything good there!
I like the look of the West Elm table. However, I own a West Elm table made of the same veneer. Although it is gorgeous, the veneer has chipped on the edge. I can not imagine how damaged it would be if used as an every day dining table…. just thought you should know. If solid wood dents, it gives it character. If veneer or laminate chips, it looks cheap. I have no idea what the World Market table is made of, but solid wood is def the way fo go.
One more thing… LOVE the chairs! They will be awesome painted white and perfect with a dark table.
Such a steal on the chairs! Now, how I am not able to find anything good on craigslist ever? I love the dark table- white chairs combo, that's what I have at home.
I love them! I'm so excited to see them painted 🙂
Great chairs and surprisingly comfortable. We are using them for a kitchen around a pedestal table in San Diego.
I am so jealous about your West Elm find! I love the graphic cut of the chair with your rug!! I think World Market table although both will look divine! Can't wait to see results…

First, I love the chairs you found!!! So lucky!! Second, it's hard to tell a real difference between the tables. The one from World Mkt looks beefier to me and I think I like that better.
I have two of those exact chairs from West Elm (in dark brown). Awesome, awesome find!
I'm also thinking about painting mine white. You'll have to blog about your painting process and tell us how it turns out 🙂

Fabulous find!
I'm loving the World Market table. It seems like it's got a bit more detail to it. 🙂
Great find on CL! Although I'm all about rectangular dining tables and have never personally owned a curved one, I was wondering if maybe the oval table you have, painted in black or a fun color, would be a good balance to the strong rectangular lines of the WE chairs? Just a thought.
your parents chairs served you well, but these west elm ones is love t first sight. They will look amazing in white in your diningarea. Best buy of the year!
