If you’ve been reading my blog for awhile you know I am in desperate need of a new kitchen table.

Our current table was a hand me down from my parents and while it was a fine table it was pretty beat up. If you read this post then you know that I got a great deal on some new kitchen chairs last year.
The new chairs have been amazing and have totally lightened the kitchen up. But there was still the issue of that dang table. I have really been struggling with what to do. I was nervous about white because my white chairs get pretty marked up. I didn’t want to have to worry about constantly cleaning it. I didn’t want dark either because my kitchen already has so much dark wood. So as a result of not knowing what to do I’ve done what most people do… nothing.
But if you follow me on Facebook I announced that I finally made a decision and bought a new table!
I purchased the Rustic Kitchen table from West Elm at DownEast. I got it for a great deal because there was a little bit of damage to it. I scored it for $300!
I am totally in love with it.
It has a stainless steel top which really worried me. But while I was at the store I ran my fingers all over it and it actually doesn’t really show fingerprints.
I also wipe it down daily with one of my favorite cleaning products.
I love this stuff and it smells sooo good.
I really like having a little industrial vibe to my kitchen. Plus the stainless steel top keeps the kitchen from feeling too dark.
What do you guys think?

Love the new table! Nice with stainless steel and a 'rustic' look that you don't have to worry about being too careful with it – I have a white table and the top desperately needs to be repainted!
Looks great with those fabulous chairs!
Love it! I was actually admiring it in their catalogue just last night. It's perfect in your kitchen!
Nice! I love the industrial feel in the space.
I really was wondering what that table was going to look like – but it is fabulous in your space!! I love that it has a stainless steel top. You have a great eye! I have been looking for a new dining table/chairs for a while now and just haven't found anything I really love, fits the space AND can afford!
Table looks great Kirsten, love the stainless steel. Gotta love Downeast 🙂
I LOVE the new table! The contrast between the metal top, the wooden legs and those gorgeous white chairs is just lovely! I just LOVE your home, thanks for sharing!

I love it. It's so clean and modern.
LOVE it! And what a steal. We have a stainless steel top on our dining room table and it is great. Especially with kids. The sucker is indestructible. Also makes a great art project station.
This is so much better than your other table, I know how much you hated it! Stainless is an interesting and cool choice!
This table looks amazing with these chairs! I love how it adds industrial texture to the space.
Love it! Great choice & what a deal. I love the stainless with the white chairs. I wish we had Down East!

Kirsten, I swear I saw you at Downeast today and it made me realize I've been following your blog for a while but haven't talked to you since…umm…high school. Anyway, I love your blog and you have given me a lot of inspiration for my home. I'm loving that kitchen table too!
You will love that table! My table has a stainless top, and it is the best with kids. Everything wipes off of it! We bought it 10 years ago before we even had kids, so it worked out well for us!
So pretty! I wish we had a Downeast here!
Love Love Love the table Kirsten! It's adding a totally new vibe to your kitchen!
Oh I am happy for you but slightly jealous. I've been wanting a table like that forever. Way to go on snagging such a great deal! Did they have more???:)
Completely in love…it adds such a sheen to your space! It was worth the wait…great find
That is great, it looks wonderful in there!
Oh! Love those chairs!! PS – I was in your class at SNAP and your session was the best by far! I can't wait to buy some new pillows!!!
What and how we think have a great influence on who we are, how we think is also determined a lot by what we believe spiritually and the environment we were raised in. The wisest man ever to live summed it up best, as a man/woman think so is that person.
Love the look! great for your space!
I think it is perfect…especially with the chairs. Nothing like getting a good price to push the decision a little:)
OH it's stunning…love the stainless steel top and it pairs perfectly with the chairs!!
For some reason I can't stop giggling over your kid in his highchair in the first image…like an afterthought he looks mildly bewildered, yet so cute and fitting. Nice new table too.
Love it! Great find for a great price and I love the stainless steel top.
I love it! and I love your chairs, but I especially love love that rug…where is it from?

I love that table. Stainless top, say no more! And, the chairs are also fabulous.
Great choice. Love the chunky legs. When I was younger living at home my mom had a custom table made just like this, but in white formica. It was a work horse and always looked great. Enjoy.
Sorry I'm a little late to the party here, but I HAD to stop and tell you what a genius choice you made! I love that the stainless steel is neither black, white, or wood; that it is light and bright and reflective; and that it cleans easily. Seriously…smart, lady! Smart! I would have never thought to take the stainless route, but you have me convinced. Love the new table…it looks great in your home!!
I love the industrial look of it too! Unfortunately, I have a wooden West Elm Parsons table and I'm totally not pleased with the quality of it. It's actually our second table (they replaced the first one for free because it was splitting and the paint was chipping after a month!). This second table is starting to do the same, but it was such a pain to replace the first one, I don't want to deal with doing it again. I WON'T be buying furniture from West Elm again. I hope your table holds up well. Stainless steel should be better!
I have that exact table. I purchased it perhaps 17 years ago from a Pottery Barn catalog. I think it was $600.00 or so, you got a good deal. Gone through four kids and still in use daily. Squeezed 4 kids and 4 adults regularly around it. Has fared well, one pin hole. Not sure if that was a knife tip or a compass and one of the kids who will name nameless carved his name in one of the legs. It always looks fresh and modern. Being in a relatively small space we used folding chairs, never knowing how many would be for dinner. Now the kids are all in college and I’m thinking it’s about time to get, yes real chairs, but what? That’s when I googled stainless steel table with beech wood legs and there was your picture. The white chairs and rug look great. Perfect for rolling dough but grandparents complain its cold in the winter, so I put a tablecloth on.
I often do not comment on blogs but your blog has such a method and writing model that I have no choices but to remark here. Nice submit, keep it up.
I've been debating about getting this table (current version) from West Elm. Wondering if you're still happy with it. Do the corners ever snag anything? Thanks!
