For some reason this nursery has been really stressful on my life. I just want everything to be perfect and it’s made the decision making process really hard. The other hard thing has been not having as much money as I’d like to do it. Sometimes it’s hard to pick what items you are going to splurge on and what pieces you are going to try and save on. I really just want to splurge on everything!
The color palette has also been hard to decide on. I wanted to do something different and push myself. Of course there will be pink but I also stepped outside of my comfort zone and I’m using something I hardly ever use… gray. Believe it or not I don’t have gray anywhere in my whole house. So I’m introducing it in the nursery. Here is a little sneak peak of what I have so far.

As you can see I’ve got a little pink, yellow and gray going on.
This room is tiny so it’s a delicate balance to keep it from being too busy. Because of that I decided to go with simple bedding. I purchased the Punch Basics bumper from Serena and Lily and will be getting the crib skirt as well. My sheet is going to be one of my “splurge” items. I’m going to keep it a surprise!
I also bought the Stella Floor Lamp from Urban Outfitters. I love it! The color is really happy and the shape is a little whimsical which I like. For some reason I have a really hard time finding cool floor lamps so I’ve been so happy with the price and look of this one.
The rug was where I brought in a big chunk of gray. I bought the Moroccan Trellis rug and have so far been really happy with it. The pile and weight is really nice and I haven’t had any kind of shedding problems.
I really wanted a comfy chair for the room so I was ecstatic when I found this one one Craigslist for $10! It’s perfect. It rocks and swivels.
I know it appears to be hideous because it is. But try to image it reupholstered in a fabric like this:
Be still my heart.
I ordered the fabric today and I’m super excited. This chair will add a lot of “punch” to the room.
There is still a lot of fun stuff that is to come before this room is done. I can’t wait to show you how it all turns out. One of my favorite elements is an amazing floral roman shade. Seriously you are going to die when you see it. Hopefully I get everything done before the baby arrives at the end of the summer!

Can't wait to see it! My husband makes fun of me when I re-do a room, because I stress myself out! He called me a tortured soul when I couldn't make up my mind about pillows for my daughter's room!
That chair is going to be amazing! Love what you've chosen 🙂
Ooooh, I love what you've chosen so far. That chair will be so comfy and fabulous when you're finished with it. Perfect for those 3 am feedings 🙂 I love the shape and color of the lamp, too.
So excited to follow along! We are expecting baby #2 this December and I've been waiting until we find out the sex (2 more weeks!) to really start the room. But I can't wait!
It's beautiful! But please, please, please get rid of the bumper when the baby is in the crib. They look great, but are simply an unnecessary risk to take. I'm not here to tell you your business, but as a mother who lost a child to SIDS, I am begging you not to take the risk.
love love the fabric you picked out for the chair!
Love the chair fabric!! And the pops of yellow. Can't wait to see the whole space!
I think it will be great when you're done. So funny that I had almost the exact same chair in my kids' nursery. I slipcovered it myself and it was perfect. You can see the pictures here – http://www.houseography.net/2010/07/nursery-part-i-big-stuff.html
Hilarious abt the chair bc I have the same one. I totally found mine on Craigslist too and bought it bc I wanted a ladies chair like they have in the mother's room at church. Love my chair. I'd love it even more reapholstered but it gets the job done.

It sounds like it is coming right along! I love everything you've picked out so far. 🙂
Stop stressing. It's perfect so far. Can't wait to see it all done! I have 3 boys so I'll live vicariously through you. 🙂
It's looking great! I know I am going to LOVE that rocker! How exciting 🙂 Can't wait to see it all done. You should have a pretty productive nesting phase 🙂
i have a similar chair to that, and i didn't reupholster it but just ripped off the hideous skirt around the bottom– made a HUGE difference! it totally took it from ghetto to fab! 🙂
Love Urban Outfitters, such affordable pieces that always bring a punch! Adore the yellow lamp, I've been spraying junk yellow for quite a while and still not sick of it! I've always loved yellow but figured out I can't put yellow paint on the walls. A piece like this is perfect.

Ooo, that pink chair will be the super star in that room, and I love the rug and lamp – it's going to be so pretty in there!
Can't wait to see it. I am right now Doing a room for my "big girls" now 2 and 4… As they are moving into a shared room so new baby brother can have a room. One girl loves pink, and one yellow so we are doing a similar color pallate. What is this floral fabric you have up your sleeve? Or is it a secret? I am saving up to splurge on a great floral from spoon flower for drapes….only a splurge cuz I need 6 yards, but it is the floral with all our colors I have found and love.
Love the chair fabric and the fabulous yellow lamp! Can't wait to see everything together!
This nursery is going to look amazing. I can't wait to see how that chair turns out…and of course, the complete finished product.
I love the bright pink mixed with the graphic navy rug! Can't wait to see the finished product!
