A couple of weeks ago I was invited to a sneak peak tour of the DIY Blogger House in the Salt Lake Parade of Homes. They took a group of bloggers and gave them each a space in the home to design. The house itself is in Daybreak right down the street from me.
The first room we walked through was designed by Jen of Tatertots and Jello. This was one of my favorite rooms. She did a lot of creative things with the space.
All of these photos are from her blog.
The desk was a craigslist find that she painted herself. The rug was hand-painted to bring in a fun custom touch.
You can see more details and pictures of her room on Jen’s blog here.
The next room was designed by Brian Clark.
All of the above photos were taken from Tatertots and Jello.
I also really loved the kitchen and dining area designed by Shelley Smith.
She made this tiny pantry really usable.
I also loved this custom built-in.

The Laundry room was designed by Amy from The Idea Room.
All of the bloggers did a great job. I’ve been visiting a lot of homes in the Parade of Homes and I can’t wait to share some other beautiful houses with you next week!
How cool that they have a house done by DIY bloggers – love that! All the rooms looked amazing. I love how creative they are!
Such a fun idea to have bloggers come together to design a home… It would be so great to see this idea come together in other cities around the country!

I LOVED the DIY Blogger House! It was fun to read about them working on it, then finally go see the finished product in person.
Beautiful! I had no idea there was a blogger house- how fun! I love the paint color… a house like that will always stand out! I also love the light fixture above the dining table, and the family "tree" in the living room. How creative! Thanks for sharing-
Love the idea of the blog house! All this camaraderie makes me reminiscent of slc and wishing we had moved there instead of here. Enjoy!
I have been working in the fashion industry for 10 years now, and I found finding a fashion job when first starting out a little difficult, but I have come across some great websites that had quality fashion positions: http://www.ragtradejobs.com and http://www.fashionfirst.com.au. Everybody wants experience first, which can be hard if it’s your first fashion job, however I found doing a short course in Fashion Design a great way to get experience and knowledge of the industry.La Mode College has some great short courses, and they include how to get work experience as well. They have a short eBook on how to get into the fashion industry and become a Professional Fashion Designer.Worth a read! Hope this post was helpful!!
Is it just me or do all of the current houses featured on blogs look alike?? Same colors, same fabrics, same rugs…It's beautiful but I'm not seeing a whole lot of character. The only real unusual thing was the wall hanging. Where is all the out of the box thinking?
YOu can certainly see what trends are flying around blogland i.e. ghost chairs, graphic patterns and painted furniture. But all the rooms looks great and I love that laundry room…so clever
Very bourgeois trendy.
No real art anywhere???
A fire sale on ghost chairs, and cheap, much too small mirrors-no thanks.
There is not much here I'd love in my home…too bad. Maybe next time they could have a true designer oversee it all?
