Last Fall we were approached by a wonderful client who needed help with a home she was moving into. The home was nice but not her style. We set out to transform the house room by room. Last week we had the home photographed so I can finally share the results with you!
Today I’l be sharing the office and updates that we made to this space. And over the next month or so I’ll go room by room sharing all the spaces with you!
The office was a space where the husband was given a little more control over the design process. He found this desk that he just couldn’t live without so we decided to design the room around it. We wanted masculine elements like leather, metal and lots of grays and blues.
I mean you can’t have a desk like this and not do something manly!
Okay so here is the office when we started with it:
The first thing we needed to do was play up that beautiful built-in window seat and the shelving.
We decided to give the room some dimension by painting the built-ins a dark gray.
We chose Kendall Charcoal by Benjamin Moore.
One thing that we wanted to do was add sconces on either side of the bench like this photo from H. Ryan Studio.
We chose these ones:
We went back and forth on choosing pillow fabric and roman shade fabric and this is the combo we ended up with.
We picked a shiny faux leather for the bench.
On the window bench we wanted to do some pillows that would bring in color since the room was mostly neutral.
We liked this shot of red in this Robert Allen fabric.
This Groundworks fabric is really amazing in person. It has lots of variation in it and has the softest velvet texture.
Since the space was a little more masculine we thought it would be fun to bring in leather elements. We bought this pouf on etsy and stuffed it ourselves with ikea pillow inserts.
Another thing the room needed was a new light fixture.
We chose the Metal Strap Globe fixture.
In the office we had three spaces that needed art. One was the wall behind the desk, the wall by the windows and the wall right by the entry door.
Right when you walk in on the wall across from the entrance we did a grouping of this art. I love it!
Behind the desk we chose the Planisphere.
It was a great choice to bring in the pillows from the window bench.
Tomorrow I’ll share the reveal with you but in the meantime here is a little sneak peak!
