We are seeing rattan everywhere in interior design and we can’t get enough. Every time we turn around there is some sort of rattan in a space, and we keep finding ourselves wanting to put a rattan element in our client’s homes.
There are a few reasons we love it so much. First, the wood nature of rattan brings in a natural element to the space and is an easy way to bring the outdoors in! We always try to bring in a natural element to a space, whether it’s a plant or a more organic feeling piece of furniture. Rattan also tends to be more affordable than other seating options. If you have a bare corner that you don’t know what to do with, a rattan chair might be an inexpensive way to go.
We especially love rattan chairs because it seamlessly crosses so many different styles. It is something that you could use in the most bohemian of spaces, but would also fit perfectly in a traditional home. Which is great if your style evolves over time, it is something that can change with you.
We recently used two rattan side chairs in our Centerville Residence. We needed something that wasn’t too heavy, but wanted to create a divide between the living room and dining room. These two side chairs fit the bill.

We also used these organic barstools into the Modern Farmhouse. We love how in brought in that natural element and softened an area of the house that can sometimes feel hard and cold. These also can stand up to kids with food and stains.
