Mountainside Haven Parade Home Part 1; Entry & Primary Suite

Mountainside Haven | July 15, 2024

Our Mountainside Haven Project has been years in the making. To say we are elated to reach the finish line of this incredible home and property would be an understatement. This project has made it into the 2024 Utah County Parade of Homes, and we are thrilled that so many people can walk through and enjoy it in person. Each corner of this home has been meticulously thought through. Each room speaks to the natural mountainside surroundings. We’ve blended natural wood, stone, and plaster finishes to bring this home to life. Enjoy the house tour!

We started designing the home around the property, which sits nestled in the mountains of Alpine. Our clients love nature and the outdoors, so we wanted to bring the beauty of the natural landscape indoors. The exterior materials include Thermally Modified Pine for the siding, steel posts and limestone veneer.

As you travel indoors you are greeted with our beautiful Arthur Entry Table that stops your eye for a moment before it travels to the breathtaking view out the back windows. This is a ranch style house which looks low from the front and really becomes more and more grand as you move through it. It was important to them that you have a view to the back from the front and boy do you ever get swept off your feet as soon as you see the view.

Adjacent to the entryway is the music room, designed to be a more formal and special space. We achieved this by wrapping the room in floor-to-ceiling plaster by Marwall. This effect, combined with the exterior stone continued from the outside, instantly creates a cozy and moody atmosphere, enveloping you in texture as soon as you enter. For seating, we selected the Meredith Chaise Lounge and armchair set atop our Banderia Hide Rug, providing both comfort and style. A traditional chandelier adds a touch of formality to the room’s ambiance.

As you make your way to the primary suite, you pass by the office. Our client desired a modern feel with rustic touches to complement the home’s overall design. We chose Sherwin Williams Jasper, a deep green, for the cabinets and added a warm ceiling treatment to complete the look.

As you enter the primary suite, you’re immediately greeted by a stunning focal point that sets the tone for the entire space. The centerpiece of this visual delight is our Scribbles artwork, which adds a touch of modern sophistication with its intricate and dynamic design. This eye-catching piece is perfectly complemented by the Parley Console Table, which provides both functionality and style with its sleek lines and refined craftsmanship. To complete the ensemble, the Ilia Side Table offers an elegant balance, adding a touch of charm and practicality with its unique design and versatile surface.

In the primary bedroom we really wanted to maximize the views so we added in a number of windows. The seating area is anchored around our Fabian nesting tables to create an intimate seating area.

In the primary bedroom, our goal was to maximize the breathtaking views, so we incorporated an abundance of windows. These windows not only flood the room with natural light but also provide uninterrupted vistas, making the outdoor scenery an integral part of the interior design. To create a cozy and intimate seating area, we carefully arranged it around our Fabian nesting tables. These tables, with their versatile and space-saving design, serve as the perfect anchor for the seating area. This combination of expansive views and thoughtfully curated furnishings creates a serene and inviting retreat within the primary bedroom.

In designing the primary bath, our aim was to seamlessly integrate the organic modern aesthetic that defines the rest of the home. To achieve this, we incorporated high transom windows, as requested by the clients, to flood the space with natural light and maintain an airy, open feel. These transom windows are strategically placed on both the shower and vanity walls, ensuring the entire bath is bathed in soft, diffused light throughout the day.

For the countertops, we selected Arabescatto marble, featuring an integrated sink that offers a sleek, cohesive look while highlighting the natural beauty of the stone’s veining. This choice adds a luxurious and timeless element to the space, enhancing its overall sophistication.

The walls and ceilings are enveloped in a rich plaster finish by Marwall, creating a smooth, tactile surface that exudes warmth and elegance. To complement the organic tones and materials, we opted for Benjamin Moore’s Cumulus Cloud as the wall color. This soft, neutral hue provides a serene backdrop, tying together the various design elements and reinforcing the tranquil, spa-like atmosphere of the primary bath.

The accessorizing in the bathroom was kept really clean. We brought in some simple neutral pieces just to add functional interest to the space like our lemongrass bath salts, woven striped hand towels and our bath brush.

Initially, the architect had envisioned a traditional his-and-hers closet setup. However, we saw an opportunity to create a more luxurious and expansive space by combining the two separate closets into one large, unified area. This decision allowed us to design a generous closet that not only offers ample storage but also provides a more open and cohesive layout.

To enhance the natural light streaming through the transom window, we placed our elegant Angelina table lamps on either side. These lamps provide soft, ambient lighting, creating a warm and inviting atmosphere within the closet. Their design adds a touch of sophistication and complements the overall aesthetic of the space.

Throughout the home, we have installed Boen white oak engineered hardwood, known for its durability and timeless appeal. However, for the closet, we opted for a Stanton carpet in Barrier Khaki. This choice adds a layer of comfort underfoot, making the closet a cozy and pleasant area to spend time in. The carpet’s texture and color also add a subtle contrast to the hardwood, contributing to a distinct yet harmonious look.

By combining the closets and thoughtfully selecting lighting and flooring elements, we transformed the closet into a spacious and elegant retreat that perfectly balances functionality and style.

Included in the primary wing is the main floor laundry room. Our clients wanted this to feel light and bright. We kept the cabinetry and wall tile lighter but added in some drama with the floor tile in contrasting gray, white and black marble in a basket-weave pattern. Our Blair Canisters are a laundry room staple. The canisters are perfectly layered with our Pastel Apple art to bring in some fresh color.

This little powder bath moment is one of our favorites. The walls are another plaster favorite in the home. We did them in Benjamin Moore Rockport Gray at 50%.
