Sometimes dining room furniture can become predictable, especially when it comes in a set. Mixing up dining furniture will take your entertaining space to the next level. It will give it something unexpected and add such style to a space. If you are tired of your space maybe swapping out the chairs or table will give it the life you are wanting.
The Riverside Residence was one of our favorite dining set combos. We knew we wanted to use a curved settee to bring in some softness. We had this custom settee made with wipeable vinyl on the front and a patterned fabric on the back. We then added some lighter stained chairs to pair with the darker table. It all really became the perfect addition to what could have been a very boring space.

In our Modern Farmhouse we chose to mix another traditional round table with white chairs to make the space a bit crisper and more modern.

We love white and wood paired together. The contrast of the two is always a winning combination. Another favorite white and wood combo is this one from the Hartford Model Home.
We rounded up our favorite favorite dining table and chairs pairings you can find right now online.

I love the settee with a round table — beauty and function. I can see myself sitting there with coffee and newspaper, computer, and being comfortable. We have a round table that extends to sit 6 comfortably. We’re considering a drop leaf table because it is just us two now (family gatherings we extend the table and set up another table) and would be a smaller imprint. Have you put drop leaf tables in any of your designs for clients? I would love to see some photos if possible and also know what you think of those kinds of tables. I’ve been having a hard time finding one that doesn’t break the bank.
The second option is having a woodworking person come in and saw off about 1 1/2 inches from the legs as it is too high and find more comfortable seating for us two. Perhaps, the settee or wing back chairs (though the latter are not necessarily comfortable).
Love the mix! Would you mind sharing the source for the gold light fixture in the last photo?
It is from Circa Lighting: http://www.circalighting.com/details.aspx?pid=569 (in brass)
Thank you!
Reading above you said the curved settee can be purchased through you. I am interested in that specific settee. So hard to find a traditional settee for a 60 inch round pedestal table. How much?
Hi Susie! We just sent you an email.
Where can the curved settee and chairs we purchase?
Email Jamie at Jamie@houseofjadeinteriors for details.
Where is the settee from?
It was custom made. It can be purchased through us. Email [email protected]
I thoroughly enjoyed reading your blog post. From Scandinavian to modern, today several interior styles have come up with the concept of mix matching furniture and fixtures. And all it takes is a bit of thought and planning right before you order from the store.

I’m totally a year late in asking this question, but am hoping you would be willing to answer my question. When you paired the darker round table with the white chairs and blond legs, what did you take in consideration when choosing the blind leg. Was it the floor, the table top?
