We are so excited to be participating in the One Room Challenge. It has always been a fun experience for us and allows us to work with some of our favorite brands plus get introduced to new ones.
For this round we are making over a Kitchen! We love doing Kitchens for our clients. They are the heart of a home and so we usually get to have a lot of fun in this space. There is nothing like making a Kitchen feel personal, beautiful and functional for a client.
The Kitchen will be for the Krason home so it feels extra personal! We also want it to incorporate all of the things we love at House of Jade Interiors. We are hoping for a classic feel with beautiful lighting, finishes, appliances, furniture etc. Our inspiration for this Kitchen is a European Country Feel. We drew inspiration from a few of these images.

Because this home was a production build it doesn’t have that charm or lived-in feeling that an older European home or even that a newer custom-built home would have. Our goal with this space is to infuse character a little color. Here is what we are starting with.
As is, it’s actually a really pretty Kitchen. We made some major upgrades to the builder basic options by putting in a farmhouse sink, moving the microwave to the island (as opposed to over the oven), an upgraded faucet and an upgraded island design. Even with those upgrades there is still a lot that is lacking. Not only in terms of design but also in terms of function.
One of the most important aspects of a Kitchen when it comes to design and function are the appliances! Not only do they need to be pretty to look at they also need to work really really well. For the One Room Challenge we are excited to be teaming up with Big Chill Appliances. As designers we feel it’s important to always be showing our clients the latest and greatest when it comes to Kitchen appliances so we are often looking out for companies that stand out from the rest. We loved how unique the Big Chill brand is and once we saw their Classic Collection we were sold!
Just look at that brushed brass detail! It’s so beautiful. We fell in love with that oven the first time we laid eyes on it. The Classic Stove pairs beautifully with the Classic Fridge.
I mean have you ever seen anything like it!? It’s so pretty and unique. The best thing about these appliances are the color options. And when we say options… we mean OPTIONS. Their appliances come in 6 colors and 3 metal trims but for an extra charge you can customize your appliances with a huge variety of color choices.
We knew we wanted a stove that had a slight color to it. A gray/blue is a classic color that anyone can love for years to come. Big Chill sent over these colors and we spent some time deciding which was the perfect hue for our English country kitchen.
The other star in a Kitchen design is a dishwasher. There are so many options out there but we always like to have the dishwasher compliment the other appliances in a space. The Big Chill Classic Dishwasher is going to make sure our dishes are clean while looking super chic at the same time.
The appliances are just the beginning of this kitchen journey. If you want to see more make sure you check back every week!

Love this- I love that navy top right, but mostly I just love that the name of their company is Big Chill bc I immediately thought of the soundtrack I used to have.
