If you follow me on Instagram you know I recently bought a new home! This new house will be our home for a very long time so I’m trying to slowly and thoughtfully decorate each space. It’s been fun for me to think about this new home and the style I want it to represent.
Seven years ago we moved into our little townhome that we lived in for six years. The space started out like this:

It was pieced together with Craigslist furniture, bargain finds and hand-me-down items. About 5 years in I decided I wanted to redo the space. At first it started with just switching out the pillows and then it snowballed into redecorating the entire space.

My last home was such a fun experiment for me. I feel like I really found my style over time. It’s funny though how my style has already evolved again. Is that just the curse of being a designer or does everyone struggle with this problem?!
My goal for my new home is to do it right the first time. I don’t want to feel like I need to re-decorate every three years. I want to buy things I’ve ALWAYS loved. I want to pick pieces that feel a bit more classic and maybe grown-up. With this new attitude towards decorating I also want my home to feel like “me” and be a reflection of my family.
The past year I have really been nailing down my style and the way I want my new home to feel. I started out just pinning everything I was drawn to. What I noticed is that I definitely shift towards a coastal feel. These are some images I pinned initially that I loved.

Along with a coastal nod I also want to incorporate a lot more black and natural woods.

I’m obsessed with the stark black and white, the stripes and the seagrass rug. Also the fiddle fig. I still love a good fiddle fig.

Again loving the black and white stripe and the pops of blue.
Color will still make it’s debut in small doses.

I love peachy pinks, purples and greens.
I’m putting together ideas together room-by-room and as soon as I start working on them I’ll be posting all the details!
So excited to see what you do! I love all of your inspiration pins! It’s going to be beautiful!
I love all the inspiration photos. Congrats on the house! Do you by any chance know the source of the water photo print in the Brittany Stiles design photo??
Where can I find that white rug with the thin black stripes?
The rug from this photo was purchased quite a while ago and is no longer in stock. Here are some similar options for you.
