We can still remember the day we pitched an all blue kitchen to our client. She was a bit taken aback but also really excited! As designers it’s so liberating to have a client who trusts your vision. We knew bringing in white countertops, white painted brick, white walls and a white backsplash would break up all the blue. We also wanted this space to feel cozy even though it’s a large kitchen. The blue helps us achieve the cozy farmhouse kitchen feel we were going for.
One of our favorite parts of designing a custom kitchen is getting to make design decisions for the client that perfectly fit their lifestyle. We did a panel front refrigerator, freezer, dishwasher and ice maker so that everything could feel as cohesive as possible. This is an option that we are seeing a lot in modern kitchens now. A lot of clients are preferring to have a lot of their appliances hidden behind custom cabinetry. Our clients also wanted a built in deep fryer so we added that to the left of the range. Speaking of the range…. We are so in love with this La Cornue with stainless and brass trim.
One small detail we added to give the Kitchen more of a modern farmhouse style are exposed hinges on the cabinets.
We love this shot because you can see the custom dutch door we had designed. It opens up to a big outdoor deck.
Off to the side of the Kitchen is a built in desk. We matched the stain of the desk to the kitchen hood. The beautiful desk chair is so comfortable and that gray stripe is the perfect pattern to bring into this modern farmhouse kitchen.
Back behind the hood wall is a barn door that leads to this stunning pantry. We did floor to ceiling storage on each wall. Because it’s a tight space with very little natural light we did a lot of glass front cabinetry to lighten it up.
The dining area off of the kitchen is simple because we wanted the backyard views to stand out. We had a custom made dining table, chairs and bench done by Matt’s Woodworking and Upholstery.
We hope you enjoyed the kitchen tour! We can’t wait to show you more of this home.
