Kaysville New Build – Basement Reveal

Kaysville New Build | July 16, 2019

Our Kaysville New Build  basement was so much fun to design.  With a family of four boys we knew each of these living spaces would be getting a lot of use.  We envisioned creating a basement that felt welcoming and functional for guests.

This basement kitchenette is small so we wanted it to pack a punch! Typically we play more with color and pattern in a basement design because the basement is often where the fun takes place in a home.  Originally we planned to take the patterned tile up the island front but once we realized how small the island would be we opted for the floor instead.

The kitchen has plenty of room for prepping party food and a huge fridge to stock all the drinks.  The best part of this space is that it opens right up to the outdoor pool!

Right next to the kitchenette is the family room. We custom designed a large sectional for this room to accommodate large gatherings for the families friends. When designing basement living spaces we typically opt for an ottoman over a coffee table. We want everyone to be able to put their feet up and relax. We added a wooden table piece that slides over the ottoman to allow a place for drinks, food, remotes etc.

This was the first house we have ever designed an indoor basketball court in.  It’s such an epic space to be in. There is so much natural light pouring in from the upper windows and your eyes are drawn up to the wood paneled ceiling.

Adjacent to the basketball court is a bathroom. We wanted this space to have a locker room type vibe but also feel modern and fun for the kids that would be using it.  The space is outfitted with lockers for the kids, a shower to wash off after a game, a trough sink to withstand a crowd and cement walls for durability.  This space also opens up the backyard so it can double as a pool bath if needed.

There really is something for everyone in this basement! Down the hallway you’ll find the cutest little under-stair playhouse we designed for the younger kids!
