Decking the halls doesn’t have to be limited to the interior of your home only. Take the festive spirit outside as well! We love to spruce up our front porch pots every winter and today we wanted to show you how it’s done.
The first step is to gather your supplies. You can really use a variety of items. For Erin’s pots we used:
- faux magnolia leaves
- birch branches
- cedar boughs
- princess pine boughs
- nordic pine boughs
- white berry sprigs
- sugar pinecones
Step 2. Stick your nordic pine in as the anchoring centerpiece for the arrangement.
Step 3. Loosen up you dirt and then add your birch branches to the center of the pot. You can put them close together or move them further apart but either way try to have them at varying heights.
Step 4. Magnolia branches add such a pretty natural color. We love layering in these faux stems into the sides of the pot
Step 5. One of the key points to remember when arranging your pots is the “thriller, filler, spiller” motto. You want something to be a focal point. (that’s your nordic pine and birch branches). You want some fillers like the magnolia leaves. Lastly, you want some spiller. Pine and cedar sprigs work great for a spilling element layering in front of everything else.
Step 6. At this point you will have quite a bit of greenery going on in your pot so we recommend adding in some berry sprigs to lighten it up and add a new texture.
Step 7. We love to fill in all the empty spaces with big sugar pinecones to add texture and a natural element.
The pots are great-love the magnolia leaves. Can you tell me who makes the boots worn by the girl in the pink sweater? Thanks
Where is the striped rug from? Thanks:)
I love the faux magnolia! Do you remember where you got it?
This looks very nice and easy. I can’t wait to do this in my entryway. Thank you for sharing this idea.
Photos would help.
