It’s week two of the One Room Challenge! Last week we introduced the project and talked about the amazing appliances we’ll be incorporating in our Kitchen remodel. This week for the One Room Challenge we are focusing on the crown molding and shiplap we’ve chosen to use for the space. Because this is a Kitchen remodel we were excited to try out Metrie’s Vintage Industrial crown molding for our cabinets. We wanted something that wasn’t too modern but also had a cleaner streamlined feel to it. These were some of the inspiration pictures we based our design for the molding off of.

The 5 – 1/4″ vintage industrial crown is the perfect fit for our cabinets and the look we are going for. Here’s how it looks on our cabinet drawings we got back from the cabinet maker.
In addition to the crown molding we are also collaborating with Metrie on their pre-primed Modern Farmhouse shiplap. We have been a long time fan of shiplap but are especially in love with it when installed vertically. Take a look at the following images and you’ll see why!

It feels so classic and gives us the perfect European country cottage vibe we are going for. The product has been easy to install so far! Our contractor is using liquid nails and a nail gun on the outer lip of the shiplap. It’s possible that we did a little happy dance the day it first started getting installed! Metrie also offers it pre-primed and painted so it can literally be a weekend project if you wanted it to be!
This Modern Farmhouse shiplap really does look so professional! We are doing most of the Kitchen in it so it is going to be a big statement in the space.
If you are excited to follow along with this project don’t forget to check out the whole group of One Room Challenge Designers. There will be so many amazing reveals!

This is gorgeous! So clean and crisp! I can’t wait to see it all finished!
Ha Ha….great minds! I am also doing vertical shiplap! Love it!
Can you talk about the door hardware here? Not necessarily the handle, but the bolts at the top and bottom. What are these called? Do these require a special type of door? Would love any information you’d be willing to share!
