Today we’ve rounded-up nightstands that we love and fall into every budget. But before we get to all those beauties, we wanted to talk first about how to choose the right nightstand for your needs. If you’re on the hunt for the perfect nightstand, chances are you’ve searched in Google for nightstands and have found small end tables that either don’t match your design style or are just too small. Most nightstands are too small for a master bedroom alongside a Queen or King size bed. When we search for nightstands for projects, we like to search for 3 drawer dressers or chests, or accent chests. As you’ll see in our round-up, we’ve even included a couple small desks!
The first thing to consider is what your needs are. Do you need a place to charge your phone, tablet, and/or smart watch? Many new nightstands come with built-in power outlets. Do you need shelving for baskets to hold items? Or maybe you prefer drawers that will allow you to tuck away your storage needs without the fear of it overflowing your baskets. We get it! Nightstands are a great landing spot for many items. Just make sure to think about how you want your space to look and feel with those storage needs met.
The next thing to consider is scale. You don’t want your nightstands to be too big or too small for your space. As you can see in this picture above, since we were using a smaller bed in a smaller room, we didn’t want oversized tables that take up all of the space. We wanted there to be room to breathe. We suggest making sure that first, your nightstand meets up with the height of the mattress, or as close to it as possible. Then consider the width of the space between the bed and the wall. Find something that comfortably fits within that and you’re good to go.
As you’ve probably noticed by these pictures, we prefer to mix up our nightstands rather than having them match. But please note, there is nothing wrong with matching nightstands! We just recommend you stay away from your entire bedroom set matching (i.e., matching bed, dresser, and nightstands). Mixing styles gives the room interest and makes it feel more custom and collected. So when it comes to mixing your nightstands, the number one thing to look for is that they are similar in size, i.e. height and width. Now, onto our round-up!
We’ve selected a few that we love and broken them down by price. As we mentioned earlier, we included a couple desks as options. We can picture these next to a heavy upholstered bed; because these are so light and airy, they would allow the space to breathe. We’ve included some cabinet style nightstands for using baskets as storage or filling with books. We love the rattan detail of number five, but if you want drawers, it comes in a style with rattan-front drawers and it’s equally pretty. Honestly, the options are only limited by your imagination. There are so many great options though, so make sure you check out the rest of our picks below!
