We are moving right along in the Kitchen! Don’t forget to check out weeks one, two and three to get updated on all that’s been happening. As designers one of our most favorite parts of designing any space are the extra special finishing touch details. The best part is always coming in with window treatments to soften the space, fresh or faux flowers to add greenery, art hung in the perfect locations and hardware to embellish our cabinetry.
We are mixing a lot of finishes in this Kitchen. We have brass, polished nickel and brushed nickel. Our appliances feature brass and brushed nickel so we decided to choose between those two finishes for the cabinet hardware. We went with the Schaub & Company Menlo Park Pulls and Knobs and the Emtek Cabinet Latches .
We love how the brushed nickel looks with both the white cabinetry and the blue/gray island.
The other element in a design that can’t be overlooked is the art. We partnered with Minted to showcase two of our favorite prints. We searched their site high and low to find art that was the prefect proportion, color and feel. We chose the Wild Radish & the Italian Hillside art prints.
We’ll be hanging them right under the Hudson Valley Gaines Picture Light.
Next on our list to include in our Kitchen remodel are the window treatments! Window treatments often get overlooked in a Kitchen but they are one of the most important parts. Because there are many hard surfaces in a Kitchen (tile, cabinets, appliances, countertops and lighting) it’s nice to soften up this room with some type of textured weave or fabric on the windows. Barn and Willow is participating in the One Room Challenge so we were thrilled to use their beautiful linen roman shades.
They have a HUGE variety of fabric options to choose from. We were super impressed with the quality of their linens and ultimately chose the Mist Gray Belgian flax linen for our roman shades.
One of our favorite things about Barn & Willow is how simple and easy their website is to navigate. Instead of getting stuck navigating through page after page of options everything is upfront and easy to see and understand.
Another item that is an absolute MUST in our designs is greenery. Whether it be faux or real we want it to invoke a feeling of nature. NDI is one of our all time favorite sources for real-looking and beautiful faux greenery. Here are some of our favorite projects featuring some of our go-to products from NDI.
